Structured Training

A 12-week path to stronger, safer progress

The 12-week structure provides a clear progression, but how it looks in practice is individual. Some clients begin with foundational strength training, while others may need targeted corrective or rehab-focused work first. In these cases, we prioritise improving movement quality and addressing the limiting area before progressing load.

At Surpass Fitness, every client starts with private coaching. This ensures your training is matched to your current ability, movement quality, and physical needs from day one.

We ask clients to commit to training in 12-week blocks because this provides time to create clear, measurable progress. Each programme is customised to the individual’s goals, experience, and current ability.

How the 12 weeks work

Some clients are ready to begin with foundational strength training, while others may first need targeted corrective or rehab-focused work. The goal is always the same: to build strength safely, progressively, and in a way that suits your body.

Week 1-2: Assessment & Foundation

  • Movement and strength assessment
  • Identification of weaknesses, imbalances, or pain-related limitations
  • Technique coaching using fundamental movement patterns
  • Lower loads to establish control and confidence
  • Rehab or corrective focus if required

Week 3-6: Base Strength Development

  • Gradual progression into structured strength training
  • Establishing appropriate working weights
  • Building consistency and training tolerance
  • Typically 2-3 sessions per week depending on the individual

Week 7-12: Strength Progression

  • Progressive overload with structured increases in load
  • Focus on strength development including lower rep ranges
  • Increased muscle and bone loading stimulus
  • Refinement of technique under higher demand

Private Coaching vs Group Training

Surpass Fitness offers both private coaching and group-based strength training sessions, but they serve different purposes.

Private coaching is designed for individualised progress. It is the most appropriate option for anyone with injuries, movement limitations, or specific strength goals that require tailored programming and close technical coaching.

Group classes are a structured strength training environment for general fitness and ongoing training consistency. They are not designed for rehabilitation or highly individualised correction work.

Both have value, but they are different training pathways depending on your goals and needs.

Outcome of the 12-week system

  • Improved strength and movement control
  • Greater confidence with free weights
  • A structured understanding of progressive training
  • A clear pathway to continue long-term strength development
